Earth Day Reminds Merchants to Offer “Green” Products

Green is the new black and I’m not referring to the clothes in your wardrobe. “Green” and eco-friendly products are in high-demand. Consumers are becoming more mindful about the environment and actively seeking products that help keep Mother Earth healthy.

Following are some tips to consider when determining which products to offer online, helping to do your part:

• Provide environmentally friendly products such as:
- Those with an “Energy Star” rating.
- Items containing materials grown organically without chemical pesticides.
- Items made with biodegradable ingredients or have other characteristics that minimize adverse effects on the environment.

• Consider dedicating a portion of your Web site exclusively to eco-friendly products to facilitate access to your consumers.

• Donate a percentage of the proceeds from a given category of eco-friendly products to a charitable organization (i.e. proceeds from pink colored merchandise goes to Breast Cancer Foundation).

With Earth Day just passed, it’s a nice reminder that now is the time to take advantage of offering environmentally conscious products like the ones listed below:

Grocery Bag 2eBay and CaféPress.com are among some of the merchants selling eco-friendly shopping bags. Don’t go to the grocery store without one!
