Top DVD Movie Releases For June 5, 2007
Eddie Murphy’s Norbit leads the DVD movie releases this week. Here are the top DVD movie releases for this week and the reviews of the films from the Epinions.com community.
Norbit
Eddie Murphy’s follow-up to the role of his lifetime in Dreamgirls isn’t exactly what everyone had in mind. On second thought, maybe it was. Murphy plays three characters including not only Norbit, but also Norbit’s wife, Rasputia. Directed by Brian Robbins and co-written Murphy and his brother Charlie, the movie received criticisms for the stereotypes it played, but that didn’t stop people from going to the theaters. Also starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Thandie Newton, Eddie Griffin, and Marlon Wayans the movie netted nearly $95 million at the box office.
The Messengers
Directed by the Pang Brothers and produced by Sam Raimi, this thriller tells the story of a family who moves to North Dakota and finds the move to be more than they bargained for. Jess, the 16-year old daughter, begins to see ghosts, as does her 3 year old brother, but no one will believe them until it’s nearly too late. The film made just over $35 million at the box office during it’s run.
