Eddie Murphy’s follow-up to the role of his lifetime in Dreamgirls isn’t exactly what everyone had in mind. On second thought, maybe it was. Murphy plays three characters including not only Norbit, but also Norbit’s wife, Rasputia. Directed by Brian Robbins and co-written Murphy and his brother Charlie, the movie received criticisms for the stereotypes it played, but that didn’t stop people from going to the theaters. Also starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Thandie Newton, Eddie Griffin, and Marlon Wayans the movie netted nearly $95 million at the box office.
